Amruta Patki is the latest addition in the list of Indian girls doing the country proud at international beauty pageants.

This 21 year from Aamchi Mumbai was chosen Miss Earth Air at Miss Earth 2006 on the 26th of November in Manila Philippines.

The Miss Earth Air is awarded to the second runner up at the competition. It is a no mean achievement on Amruta’s part to do well in the competition where awareness of environmental issues is tested. You got to talk intelligent and look good doing it. Amruta managed that with élan. She also won the Long Gown contest as well.

Amruta won the chance to represent India at the competition when she got chosen Pond’s Femina Miss India-Earth.

Amruta is a commerce student from Mumbai University. Okay, now for the interesting part that your eyes are scanning this piece for – her stats. Amruta is 180 cm or 5’11” tall, bust 34”, waist is a very slender and ideal 24” and hip size is again what is considered to be the perfect one for an attractive woman – 36”. It was my childhood dream to travel all over the world. This has been the most wonderful experience that has brought the world at my feet,” said an elated Amruta.

“My middle-class upbringing has given me enough information about the world to represent the country,” Amruta had told the press.

Amruta Patki is the ponds Femina Miss India-Earth 2006. She known in India at the Miss Earth 2006 pageant. She was chosen as the Miss Earth Air 2006 (a title given to the first runner up in this competition). She finished second among 80 competing delegates from other countries. Miss Chile, Hil Yesenia Hernandez was the eventual winner of Miss Earth 2006.

The Miss Earth 2006 pageant, in its sixth year, took place on November 26, 2006 at the National Museum in Manila, Philippines. More than 100 contestants were expected to come, but only 82 nations were confirmed to participate this year. Nevertheless, it was still the highest turn-out for the event.

Keeping the country’s flag flying, Pond’s Femina Miss India-Earth 2006 Amruta Patki won the Miss Earth Air title at the Miss Earth pageant in Manila on Sunday.

The 21-year-old dusky Indian beauty had earlier also bagged the Best in Long Gown award wearing a stunning, hand-painted Hemant Trevedi creation.

A combination of good looks and oodles of confidence helped Amruta bag the prestigious first runner-up award in the overall contest, beating contestants from all over the world.

Said Munish Purii, national director, Femina Miss India Pageant, “Amruta was focused and sincere in her efforts. Her hard work has paid off.”

Amruta is a final-year B Com student from Mumbai and has trained in jazz and kathak dances. She also sings Indian classical.

Reacting to the victory, her elated mother Neeta Patki said, “Amruta excels in whatever she chooses to do. On our part, we have given her all the freedom to pursue her dreams.”

Daughter of a banker father, Amruta got general knowledge and diction lessons under Sabira Merchant and was tutored in voice modulation by Erica D’Souza. Diane Pandey’s physical training also went a long way in toning her up for the event.

“It was such a fantastic experience. Over 82 countries had participated in the contest.
The confidence clearly showed on the global stage. It was literally a dream come true for the long-legged beauty!

After winning the Miss India Earth title, Amruta and the other Miss Indias worked on various awareness programs and also walked the ramp for numerous fashion shows. Currently she is performing her duties as the Miss Earth Air 2006 and continues to work for Miss Earth Org and its causes. She also continues to appear in various fashion and lifestyle magazines and ramp shows.

On 8th April 2007, Amruta crowned the new Femina Miss India Earth 2007 - Pooja Chitgopekar who will now train and compete for the title that Amruta came close to winning. With Amruta’s position being the best that any Miss India has performed at Miss Earth, Pooja has a huge responsibility to do well at MISS EARTH 2007.
